BarCamp KL - April 4th and 5th

BarCamp Kuala Lumpur - April 4th and 5th

No music, no life. Even @BarCamp!

You’ve probably have read or heard about these new generation of artists & musicians having the edge over everyone else by simply using the Web effectively. I used to go to Napster for music, but now we have iTunes & AmieStreet. MySpace, Facebook & Friendster, who doesn’t use them nowadays as a means of promotion nowadays.

LastFM? Pandora? CDBaby? Flux? WeMix? Heard of them yet?

I’m throwing a workshop/talk session @BarCamp Malaysia, where I’ll be sharing my insights, thoughts & advice:

Why?
- Why artists & musicians should have their own social (fans) network
- Why is it important
- Why you don’t need a music label

Where?
- Where to look for Web services that can help spread the music
- Where can I sell my music
- Where to get the right tools, for the right job

How?
- How to build your own social (fans) network using (almost) no money!
- How to sell music beyond that rock corner shop
- How to use the right tools, for the right job
- Merchandise. How to make the right one for the “rakyat”.

This session is mostly will be a workshop style session, where I’ll be guiding & sharing with you my own set of (dirty) tips & tricks on getting about on the Web. The talking session would very likely be less than 30 minutes, but for rest of the hour I am open to questions, arguments or even singing. If you have a super cool idea for your band, group or solo, bring along your idea & throw them at me. Let’s see how I can help you with your idea.

Your music, your fans. Spread the news people!
