Seem like the Barcamp Movement is picking up.

Singapore had their Barcamp II recently which focused on Mobile and Maps.

And the guys from Thailand had two Barcamp in June which one of them was a Twitter Day.

Our friend Tharum Bun in Phnom Penh is organizing their inaugural Barcamp Phnom Penh this 21th September.

Also there are a handful happening around India.

Plus the one in Hong Kong on on the 9th of September.

The great thing about BarCamp is people tend to go from one Barcamp around their region to make new friends and this is the case of BarCamp Malaysia.

As I am writing this, a few of our friends have express interested to join the Fun in BarCamp Malaysia.

Even we got Jeori from Belgium to run the Drupal Track.

One of the cool thing for the volunteers at Barcamp Malaysia is to have a @barcamp.my email

If you want one, join us at Starbucks Gardens in KL this Thurs 3rd July 2008 at 8pm.

Buy your own drinks and bring your own notebook.

Also for those who are curious what Werewolf is about, join us there.

Although Barcamp seem like a very Geeky type of event but the truth it…it is not.

Barcamp is ideally an Otaku event. So what is Otaku?

In it’s purest form, Otaku means someone who is very passionate about a particular topic.

May it be Ramlee burger to Naruto to PHP to Pole Dancing, an Otaku is a passionate learner of the subject.

So chances are, if you are very passionate about something , you can find your fellow otakus who are in the cutting edge of the topic you are interested here in BarCamp.

So to answer your questions, who is barcamp for?

Barcamp Malaysia is for

  • Bloggers
  • Entrepreneurs
  • CxO

  • Mathematician (we only got one so far)
