BarCamp Penang just a month away!

Okay, maybe not EXACTLY a month away, but we are really close!

BarCamp Penang

When?: 6th & 7th of June

Where?: 4th floor, INTI College Penang

The logo is up and everything is going nicely.

We did stumble over some bumps along the way to making BarCamp Penang but so far, everything is running smoothly.

Anyways, to those who are new to BarCamp:

1) What is BarCamp?

Directly quoted from Wikipedia: BarCamp is an international network of user generated conferences — open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants — often focusing on early-stage web applications, and related open source technologies, social protocols, and open data formats.

Or in “chatting terms”

BarCamp Penang says: it’s like a 2 day “conference” with many rooms

2) What’s in it for “me”?

BarCamp gives you the opportunity to meet people who are most likely have the same interest as you or who are on the same profession as you are. BarCamp also allows you to gain new knowledge, strategies or even skills in any field ranging from business to “how to dance” to others. Plus, it gives you the opportunity to speak out your mind as you are free to give your opinion regardless of your position in society! You can even be the speaker! 3) How can I play a part in BarCamp?

If you are a person eager to learn more about how the world is today, either in business, engineer, miner or anything that you wish to know, do come and participate in BarCamp Penang.  If you wish to share knowledge, experience or skills or anything, also do come to BarCamp but please note the organizer first. BarCamp is able to sustain itself with the help of kind donations from sponsors who are willing to sponsor the event for a noble cause that is to allow the community to interact and share knowledge with one another. 4) Is BarCamp free?

Yes! It is free! You can just register at the registration table and come into the event! Food will also be provided for breakfast and possibly, lunch. We are still trying to get catering for lunch.

BarCamp KL is just a few days away! Oh so close. After an exciting & hyped up first year, BarCamps are starting to mushroom in Malaysia. And it’s all for the good of knowledge.

Most people would still ask, what is BarCamp? You can have the technical answer for that. The answer varies, but the reasons why the spirit of BarCamp (and FOSS.my) lives on will always be the same.

It’s like an underground community coming together and actually share stuff, whether it be for professional or personal benefit and it’s for all. That’s more important. The idealistic & holistic understanding of what we are doing together is for all & everyone. It’s important for everyone. It’s interesting for everyone. And would it be great if everyone get to know about it? Of course!

And that’s what BarCamp is all about. It can be about anything: art, drama, theatre, tech, business, finance and oh so many knowledge & interesting stuff that is out there and living inside us that is just waiting to burst out!!

If you have that feeling, come to BarCamp. You will feel just right at home. And don’t forget to pitch in a session or two.
